Autistic in Ontario? Better be rich! Government is spending big money
helping too little too late.
I am the mother of a 6 year old boy who was diagnosed with autism
before he was two. He waited 2 years for the treatment. Decision to
discharge him was made after just 18 months of therapy despite his 89%
improvement. 50% of kids who receive early intensive treatment lose
the diagnosis of autism. The cost of child treatment is a fraction of
the price of residential care during decades of adulthood. Sebastian
was only 5 1/2 when the government decided he is too autistic to
invest in his future.
