While there will always be criticism as to the way marginalized people
are portrayed in the media, the answer is not to erase them. This site
is intended as a platform for writers to interact with the very
marginalized people they want to write into their stories, in order to
minimize stereotyping. Nothing will ever be a 100% perfect portrayal,
but this will hopefully open conversations and take us a step in the
right direction. Simple premise: You’re a writer interested in
diversifying your characters, but you don’t share those experiences
and you don’t want to offend anyone. A good resource is always those
who understand firsthand what it’s like to live as such. So you
visit the appropriate tag, find someone you’d like to work with, and
contact them via whatever method they’ve provided. If you’re
