Historically, the Six o'clock swill was the last-minute rush to buy
drinks at a hotel bar before it closed. During a significant part of
the 20th century, hotels shut their public bars at 6 pm; between
finishing work at 5 pm and this early closing hour, workers drank
heavily before going home. That, in a roundabout way, is what this
blog is all about. In stolen moments between being a full time
educator, full time student, and full time cynical skeptic, I’ll
grab an hour at the hotel bar of the blogosphere and share a story
with a stranger. Grab a stool and buy me a drink.
