Hi, I’m Dan. This is just a place for me to share things I like and about which I tend to geek out. I wear my fandom(s) on my sleeve here. They include: Futurama, Orphan Black, Warehouse 13, Battlestar Galactica (reimagined version), Outlander, Marvel (MCU films, Jessica Jones, Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Dark Matter, The Americans, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Lost Girl, Monty Python, Blackadder, Sherlock, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Welcome to Night Vale, and more. Also tend to geek out about meteorology, geography and maps, photography, space travel/exploration, reading/books, language/linguistics, penguins, pelicans, waterfowl, raptors (esp. owls and eagles), cats (of all sizes), math, etc. I’m an American who is a huge anglophile, extending to all the countries in or formerly in the British Commonwealth. I tend not to reblog a lot of political stuff, but I do pass on the occasional important (to me) post. I’m a straight, white, middle-aged cis American male, and a staunch feminist, though given my demographics, I regard my own feminism always as a work in progress. I’m an information and communication scientist and an atmospheric scientist (specifically a cloud microphysicist) who’s seen too many years in school, but still holds onto a lifelong love of learning. I know more than most people probably want to know about handling large amounts of scientific data. I can go on for hours about how clouds and precipitation work, though there is still much we do not know.
