Comedy was looking to start such a race at the same time. In May of
2012 Lou Deppas (Lucy–Desi Center for Comedy) and David Reinhardt
(Chautauqua Striders) met and both organizations began a joint race
venture. Soon after the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena was contacted as
third partner and host venue. A Steering Committee comprised of the
organizations’ staffs along with members of the business and running
communities was formed in September of 2012. The Steering Committee
established the event’s name as “Lucy Town Half Marathon & 5K”
