Sally Ride EarthKAM is a NASA education program that enables students,
teachers, and the public to learn about Earth from the unique
perspective of space. Using the Sally Ride EarthKAM website,
participants make image requests that are processed by undergraduate
students and Sally Ride Science staff at the University of California,
San Diego, transmitted to Johnson Space Center Mission Control in
Houston, and uplinked to the International Space Station (ISS), where
the camera is housed. There are typically five EarthKAM missions every
year. The date of each depends on scheduling aboard the ISS. To take
part in any mission, simply register on the EarthKAM website and
announcements will be sent approximately three to four weeks prior to
each mission.
