Peg & Keith send New Year's Greetings from Chiang Mai in northern
Thailand. Here on the west side of the city we enjoy a pleasant New
Year's Eve day, enjoy a local sushi shop for dinner and then join in
the evening festivities in a small traditional Thai neighborhood where
we often eat and shop. We were the only "foreigners" present with the
exception of one married to a local gal. Pointy hats were given to us
and we were invited in to the festivities without question. This
included a local fashion show for "mature ladies" of the neighborhood,
musical presentations, & traditional Thai fireworks and "sky lanterns"
(see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_lantern) The last thumbnail is
a video of the fireworks seen from our condo window just as 2008 ended
and the new 2009 year arrived. Pretty spectacular light show over the
city! May 2009 bring peace and sanity to this troubled world and to
your neighborhood.
