Afghanistan’s fragile government needs continued outside support as
fighting with Taliban insurgents intensifies and the economy stalls
with a reduced international presence. Working in Afghanistan since
2002, USIP seeks to ease instability and conflict through research,
programs and policy discussions, and through work with civil society
and government to strengthen the rule of law and encourage more
transparent and accountable governance. With an office in Kabul, the
Institute develops valuable insights on the conflict that inform U.S.,
Afghan and international policymakers. Learn more in USIP’s fact
sheet on Afghanistan.
