The United States of America is the product of two constitutions. The
first, the Articles of Confederation, was passed on November 15, 1777,
ratified on February 2, 1781, by the required 13 States, and enacted
on March 1, 1781. The second, the current US Constitution, was passed
on September 17, 1787, ratified by the required nine States on June
21, 1788, and enacted by 11 States on March 4, 1789.
