OnJuly 19-20, 1848, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia
Mottspearheaded the first women's rights convention in
AmericanHistory. Over 300 women and men came to Seneca Falls,
NewYork to protest the mistreatment of women in social,
economic,political, and religious life. This marked the first call
forwomen's right to vote.

On August 26, 1920, after three generations of anunrelenting,
brilliant, courageous, political campaign, women inthe United States
won the right to vote.
To honor and commemorate this historic event, Bella Abzugintroduced a
Congressional Resolution to ensure that this datewould be commemorated
with the designation of WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY, whichis celebrated on
August 26th each year.

National Constitution Day September 17th
On September 17, 1787, the delegatesto the Constitutional Convention
met for the last time to sign thedocument they had created.
