"Regent"

Maxwell Issac Constantine is a vampire over four hundred years old, he has spent centuries alone never seeming to find someone to quench his never ending thirst… Nor to spark any bit of life, into his deadened heart… that is until now. Turned into a vampire on the same night he lost his wife Jocelyn Rose Saintclair-Constantine and his daughter Ashley Rose Constantine, to the hollow monster that cursed him with an endless hunger for blood. Since then, as the centuries have passed, he has stalked the night killing to feed his thirst, until he stumbles upon a woman that brings light into his darkened soul… The year was 1614, it was mid June; the beginning of the festive season, was delayed just a few months after the winter. The unusually warm weather had brought longer rains, than to be expected for the ending of spring. Maxwell moved through the crowded streets of New Orleans, Jocelyn clinging to her husband’s arm, she with close to white knuckle fingers, locked with their daughter Ashley’s tiny fingers as they moved at a gentle pace. The carnival season had begun late this year, yes it was that time of the year again. It was the season for parades, and balls, some of them even masquerade balls. Maxwell knew his beloved wife so enjoyed the festivals, the sounds of music, and the sweet smells of all the floral carts, being pulled by both man and or horses. That moved up and down the part cobbled, and part earthen streets of New Orleans in parading lines. Having spotted something he knew his little princess would adore withouta doubt, Maxwell stepped into a small mercantile to purchase the item for her. He but turned his sights away from his ladies for the briefest of moments, only to step back into their company, to be left standing there as he watched in disbelief. He was locked in a gaze of the horror, his own eyes bearing witnessed, to what was playing out before him like some nightmarish play upon a great stage, but this was so real, for this play held no actors but a horror story which was about to unfold for this most unwilling man. He felt his soul being torn from his body, then forced into a timeless gaze. He was placed on pause, feeling his soul moving away from him, yet his body remained locked for what seemed an eternity. The darkness that was sweeping all he ever loved into that place of denial, his life came to a complete stop in those brief moments. Then as if thrown into an icy lake, and the ice braking beneath his feet, the flesh upon his body increased in such pain. His body growing cold so fast, when his eyes blinked but once, to find himself locked in a choking embrace by those frozen fingers. In awe, Maxwell was shocked by the unyielding strength that held him motionless, to help as all he cared for was being stolen away before the light of day. His own eyes begin to glass over as his own tears welled up, to the pain being bestowed upon him. Those last seconds of his own life were his own horror, tortured his soul finds its way back into his body. For no more then to tease his now braking spirit, the eyes of pure evil faced him, with little to say but death upon his braking heart, and shattering soul. Maxwell stood there locked in time, held by this evil darkness, as it fed upon all he was, killing all this man ever loved. Devouring the last shreds of his character, a man in life of honor, he was now being distorted by this false man, feasted upon by this demonic Vampire… Which but moments before, took his child Ashley… then killing his beloved Jocelyn Rose. Then the very sunlight above him was being stolen, from his tearing eyes, darkness racing into stealing all light from his soul. Then without any warning the darkness of this monster, finally broke the silence… but to speak these few words. “The truth of justice is its sting, while the lie is but the poetry to tickle your ears. Allow this Vampire to end all your fears, so you may exist for all eternity to feed upon the truth in life for the lies of the living. You I have watched, you I have hunted. For you Maxwell Issac Constantine, are known to me for such a long time, you are the one that I have chosen. We shall meet again my child and upon that time you shall end this tortured gift given unto me. Farewell my child until we do meet again.” His voice sounding as a flat ringing… muffled church bells, leaving no harmony, only but the purest sound of evil rang out in Maxwell’s ears. Now since that fateful evening so many centuries ago, his cursed soul has brought forth such a monster that he has become a man with little care for those of the living that he must exist among. But when his sights are set upon a female, he is taken by her beauty. His appetite for her begins to grow, as the desire to make her his blood slave, soon turns into his addiction for her. This woman with a can do attitude, with little to fear. Born into a wealthy family and raised as a southern belle she lives the night life, one party at a time. Until one night she is taken and thrown into her darkest fantasies, when a Vampire who’s very touch burns her soul. Is she the one, that will end his cursed existence, that he has been tormented to exist in for all time? © 2010 By: H.Dirk Macgrieve/Maxwell Issac Constantine “Regent” The Materials, Characters and Stories are copyrighted and are the sole property of Author/Writer H.
