Jesalee Go creates playful sculptures that stem from her enjoyment of
childlike curiosities and whimsical imagery. In her work, she often
tries to evoke both the simple feeling and excitement of a first
experience and nostalgia through material. When she’s not making
art, Jesalee likes to cook, and explore new cooking methods.
Creativity is practised in many forms. Making and sharing meals are
great ways to achieve the feeling of fulfillment similar to drawing,
painting, or sculpting. Jesalee started sewing at age 10 on her
mother’s sewing machine. Her creations have been enjoyed in numerous
private collections. Her experiences as a seamstress and a sculptor
have naturally combined and helped to develop her current body of
work. She continues to explore new ways to share her crafts.
Currently, Jesalee lives in Brooklyn with her husband Stephen,
daughter Lily and cat Johnny.
