Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AntiPornography.org is a nonreligious, nonpartisan, IRS-approved, 501©(3) nonprofit organization working to prevent and combat the devastating harms of pornography, prostitution, sex trafficking and sexual slavery, as well as all other forms of sexual exploitation and abuse, through public education and advocacy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHY WE ARE AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are against pornography because it degrades love, sex, women, and all humanity, including boys and men. Pornography also frequently glorifies and promotes sadism, masochism, rape, incest, pedophilia, and abuse of and violence against women in general.  Additionally it harms relationships, marriages, families, children, the economy, and creates demand for illegal and underage prostitution, and international adult and child sex trafficking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE THAT ANTIPORNOGRAPHY.ORG IS: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nonreligious,  Anti-Censorship, Anti-Banning, Pro-Free Speech ~ Anti-Exploitation, Anti-Sexism, Anti-Slavery, Anti-Violence ~ Pro-Education, Pro-Respectful Egalitarian Sexuality ~ Pro-reasonable regulation of the pornography industry for the health and safety of the performers ~ (Please see FAQ for details.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT WE ARE NOT TAKING A STAND AGAINST: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please note that AntiPornography.org is against the harms of pornography, prostitution, sexual abuse, exploitation, slavery and trafficking, but we are not against personal private nudity, gay or bisexual people, pornography performers, non-compulsive, non-porn-facilitated masturbation, non-public sex between consenting mature adults, age-appropriate sex education, or private access to respectful, non-objectifying and completely non-degrading and non-exploitative erotica  by single mature adults, or by individuals involved in relationships who have the full knowledge and consent of their partners in regards to what they are viewing. (See definitions below. This is NOT the same as most “soft-core” porn, which is very objectifying. An example what we mean might be a couple viewing a mainstream film together with some erotic content during a scene where two equal partners are being sexual or erotic to some degree, such as when they are kissing, etc.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REGARDING VIOLENCE:  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please note that AntiPornography.org is also against all types of violence, except for self-defense. So please don’t say to us: “Why don’t you worry about violence instead, it’s so much worse than pornography.” First of all, pornography itself contributes to violence.  Secondly, AntiPornography.org is against both pornography AND violence, but most especially is against the combination of the two, which is unfortunately exactly what much of, (if not most of), current mainstream pornography is unfortunately all about. If you’re not yet convinced about that fact, please see the Porn and Sex Crimes page of our website and the documentary “The Price of Pleasure.” Thank you to those of you who are willing to take a look at these resources with a fair and open mind. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DEFINITIONS OF PORNOGRAPHY AND EROTICA: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For the time being the definitions we use for pornography and erotica are as follows: PORNOGRAPHY: Material that combines sex and/or the exposure of genitals with abuse or degradation in a manner that appears to endorse, condone, or encourage such behavior. EROTICA: Sexually suggestive or arousing material that is free of sexism, racism, and homophobia, and respectful of all human beings and animals portrayed. (Note: AntiPornography.org is not in favor of open public displays of this or underage access to it.) The above definitions are from “Pornography As a Cause of Rape,” by Dr. Diana Russell, Ph.D., a book excerpt from “Against Pornography: The Evidence of Harm”. Read excerpt at Diana Russell.com. (Note: Dr. Russell is a founding and current Board member of AntiPornography.org)   So because by definition pornography, (as it is used here), has to include abuse or degradation, if you are against abuse and degradation in regards to sexuality, then you are against pornography. So assuming that you are, welcome to the team! Please note that the above definition of pornography also matches the vast majority of what the pornography industry itself chooses to identify as it’s “product.” Please see the sales and rentals charts at AVN.com for examples. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDUCATION ON HEALTHY SEX: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are in favor of age-appropriate and ongoing sex education for children, teens and adults in order to encourage a healthy attitude towards sex, and safe, healthy, equality-based sex, love and relationships. We feel that having a healthy open dialogue and regular education about sexuality is an important part of resolving the issues in our society of sexual exploitation and abuse, which often come about as a result of ignorance, or from any type of sex being treated as taboo or wrong. So that is why we include posts about healthy sexuality on this blog, in addition to posts about the harms of pornography, prostitution and sex trafficking, etc.  For those that may be confused, please note that pornography is NOT “SEX.” Pornography is a multi-billion dollar industry that profits off of sexual exploitation and abuse, particular of vulnerable and previously abused young women.
